Frost might have a way in. There's one MP at least who may have to resign, perhaps two.

Johnson won't stick around, for sure, and Pincher will be gone too, but I wouldn't fancy Frost's chances in a byelection pretty much anywhere - there isn't really a Tory safe seat in a byelection in the present context. So he would be taking a pretty big risk. I think it's unlikely he would stand.

It's a better resolution than simply walking away. We still have a PM in position, the plotting and backbiting will transfer to the leadership candidates so he can get on with the other problems we face, and it can all be done in a reasonable timescale.

He can't stay because he's untrustworthy.

edit: although as BBC point out the summer recess is nearly here so we don't really need even the facade of a working government
