Must be a market for pet feeders as well.

Gardening is popular if that's your thing, MIL has a gardener who mows her lawn , trims flowers and does odd bits she has them round 1-2 hours a week.

      Cleaners the same.

Probably a market for rich retirees helping with their paperwork etc.

As you are funded make a product, find one thing that really stirs yer grit and create a solution. Plenty of people have done that. My Brother wrote some cool monitoring software and sold it for enough to make him very happy.

Plenty of old gits (like me, before you say it) who are cut off from our shiny new interconnected world by being unable to use modern technology (not like me, before you say it...).

Either offer a bureau service to help them out, or talk to someone like U3A or your local college about running a course or two...?
        Blog? What blog...?

Yeah considered the pet thing. Mate did it, but didn't work out for her - but she needed to pay a mortgage, where I have the luxury of not really needing the money.

Might be the worth a look though.

I hand in my badge next week.

I too have lost all faith in modern IT practices, cheap low skilled developers shipped in from all over the globe, running so called agile practices, with more bugs than a mealy worm farm. The grind has ground for too long.

So, for me it's retirement, new adventures and direction too.

This is very much a UK issue and it is not just an issue in the IT industry but is in fact industry wide. Everything is down the cheapest cost and getting it done in quick and dirty mode. Take the money and run.

If you don't have money worries, just do what you enjoy. I packed in about 4-5 years ago now and just do things I enjoy or get a kick out of. I've stupidly made my self a load busier than I was when I was contracting, so don't fall into that trap

Finding it in the Industry I work in, pushing to get more out of the employee , rushing projects out and then 3 weeks later the boss is saying 'why did we do it this way ' and then costing them more money. Think technology has made people work more faster . Some of the clowns I work haven't a clue !
