    I wouldn't say there is no originaity / great voices nowadays, it's there if you look for it.

    Some examples..

    * The Streets
    * Bjork
    * Amy Winehouse
    * The Beta Band
    Politicians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!

      Couldn't agree more! Oasis have written some ok tunes but as a live act they are sh1t. Liam Gallagher has to be one of the worst frontmen to a band ever. Where is the showmanship? The band just don't look like they enjoy being on stage. Then you get twat like Russel Brand describing them as the best band in the world!!!Not even close. Not even in the top 20. The red hot chilli peppers p1ssed all over them last night.

        Don't know if you were replying to me, but if you were, Wire from my list have been going since 1976 so if that's not staying power I don't know what is. They've also been highly influential, and Britpop probably wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for them. It's no surprise that they sued bands like Elastica for completely ripping off their songs (Line Up is I Am The Fly with different words).

        They're also releasing new stuff that's just as new and refreshing as their old stuff was when it was released.

          I'd go along with Sandy there - Muse are a top class band. There's some other good stuff about, but IMHO they are the best at the moment.

          The Brits is just an excuse to see who could act like the biggest arsehole.

            Seems to me that the only person due credit for Oasis having any success at all, let alone getting to the position they're in, is Noel. Total charisma, excellently dry sense of humour and practically every comment he makes is a proper quote. He was on the radio last night and they asked about the Tony Blair thing and he just said, "Yeah, well, it was going alright till the Iraq thing wunnit?" which is what it all boils down to, let's face it.

            I think Noel is a major, major talent - possibly the only genuine British rock star for at least ten years - and it's such a pity he's not got a proper band around him that could stretch him and make things interesting for the rest of us. Liam just seems like a tiresome twat for the most part. No, I won't be saying that to his face, since you ask.

              I remember seeing Oasis (for the first and only time) at about 1pm in the afternoon on the 2nd stage at Glastonbury in 91 or 92 - before their first album came out. Liam sat down on the drum riser for the most part. He looked like he couldn't be arsed.

              Some spotty 15 yeard old oik in the crowd who obviously believed the NME hype of the time asked me what my favourite song of there's was. I said I had no idea since I'd never heard them before. He said his was "I Am The Walrus"

                  but they're just a radiohead tribute band aren't they?

                    Oasis=unoriginal crap. Noel wishes he was John Lennon, recycles basslines and melodies, lets Liam cover them in fag ash and drool before droning out the songs to appeal to the tasteless masses.

                    IMHO

                      I think Brian May's right when he said in the sixities and seventies, to play in a band and make records you had to master an instrument, because there were no fancy electronics to do your music for you. The other thing is, a hit record is a huge investment so the thing is run like a business, the record company uses specialist song-writers, session musicians and then cast some singers to front a band, so there's no creative musical talent in the band. When Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran recorded it was four or five guys in a studio for an hour, "1,2,3,4" and switch on the mike.
