As I think you know my missus passed away in August. I think I know how you feel. Not that far in and it's pretty s**y here too.

The 'firsts' are always the hardest ..... 1st christmas, 1st birthdays, 1st anniversary etc ... it's a journey, a bl00dy hard journey, but we'll get there! Hope this first christmas brings you some peace

              Thank you
I'm finding that one out as we speak. Her first birthday was only a week after her death and that was very, very hard going - nearly disaster in fact
It is on days like this I wish I didn't have to retire last year. I could have escaped to the office and have plenty to keep me occupied, that I wouldn't know where the time went
              It's certainly not easy.
I hope things aren't too rough at your end.

Occupying the time is the trick I've found. Whilst I was caring for Rachel I was busy 24/7, and working 2 days a week from home for the last few years. As soon as she went, and I was no longer needed as a carer, those 2 days a week were just not enough. Hence why I had to go back full time ... I'm finding working 5 days a week is easier to deal with.

Today is not too bad, I'm just treating it like a normal weekend. Up, coffee and breakfast, and a cycle in a bit before a late lunch. Trying to avoid anything 'christmas'.

You're still very early into your journey, but it does get easier as time goes by. Never 'easy', just easier to deal with each day and easier to deal with the waves as they come crashing in.

                  Take care

I'm enormously grateful I have my family with me - it's been a near thing a few times. For those of you who don't -

                    Merry Christmas.
