How often do your umbrella company miss payments?

I have been with my umbrella since February and today is the second time they have failed to pay me on time (excluding the many times my manager did not authorise my timesheet before deadline)

Par for the course or unacceptably poor service?

I hope it is genuinely a mistake and they haven't been hacked like Giant...

How late? And did they simply pay late or miss it entirely and have to be chased?

About 20 minutes late as I type this but the payslip etc. should have arrived yesterday evening.

In my mind not paying people on time is unacceptable.

I don't need the money today but if I did I would then have to spend time chasing whilst worrying that my financial commitments may not be met.

I agree, assuming you do everything on your side on time it's unacceptable for them to be missing/delaying payments

Easy to forget for people who have a satisfactory warchest and can pay themselves what they like when they like, but for a fair percentage of people, being paid 1 or 2 days late can be the difference between direct debits bouncing or not

Unfortunately, other than be a pain in their side, I don't think there's a great deal you can do (assuming they do eventually pay it)

I have just been informed that I will be paid next working day which is three days late.

No big deal for me but then not everyone working through an umbrella is in my position.

20 minutes is not late, unless the exact time is stipulated in the contract.
Also, if there is a delay, it's worth finding out the reason for it, and what can be done to make sure it doesn't happen again.

So, what does the contract say about payment?
What day do you normally get paid on?
Also, the last time your payment was delayed, what day were you expecting it, and what day did it arrive?
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

You should tweet Joe Lycett about it.
