    Approach after being ghosted

Has anyone been approached for a role they previously interviewed for but were ghosted?

If so how what did you do?

I feel that ghosting applicants who have devoted hours of their time is rather bad form yet I can see why some firms do this in industries where open headcount and funding is in a constant state of flux.

Sadly many agents are like Larry the lounge lizard you either close the deal and are loved or you don't exist.

Was it the same Agent? A decent one will be keen to give you feedback either way. Hint agents send me a mail/text with feedback if you don't want to talk I will appreciate it.

Of course your rate/salary expectations have gone up in the meantime.

And just wait when the market picks up and candidates start doing the same thing to them.

It'll all be 'unprofessional' and 'disrespectful' then.

Do what vetran suggests - ask for more money and if something better comes along, dump them.

I'm not sure I've ever devoted hours of my time to applying for a gig.

You don't mention if the agency is the same or not. Either way, I'd make the agent aware that you were interviewed on x date and never heard back so assumed the role was given to someone else. Let them know if you're still interested in the job.

If it's been a while, it could be that the client had the budget swiped, or scope changed and it all went on hold. Doesn't excuse the lack of communication. It's entirely possible that you interviewed well and the client will remember you and be pleased to see you're still interested. Could make for a much speedier turnaround.

Being ignored for initial applications is normal but ghosting after an interview is bad form. I've never experienced it. I would tend to go with another agent.
          I'm alright Jack

To clarify this was a direct application for a permie role made over 18 months ago - no agent involved.

Sadly it happens with a few. I tend to ring the agent a few days later with caller ID turned off, their greed overcomes them, I might be a customer.

So the clients are unprofessional and disrespectful then.

                Got it.

This is a very large company - the hiring team seem extremely nice. Ghosting appears to be an HR policy.

Indeed we know a song about that

Its not going to get any better. The hiring process tells you a lot about a company.

Interestingly I'm looking casually at present and one agent pushed the salary required down and then his wide boy boss suggested the client had form for offering less, seems I am at second interview level but I suspect it will end in tears for them. Its all interview practice though .

I have a great looking one coming up next week (£10K over what I asked for and occasional worldwide travel to see my team) so need to get fit for that one.
