    Covid In Olympic Village

An official in the Olympic Village has tested positive for Covid.

Olympians have fun and often meet long term partners at the games. What is the point of going if you can't? As not everyone gets a medal.

The Olympics are copyrighted, organised and run by a private company; that's the way it's always been. They get the host country to pay for the infrastructure. Lots of bribes and back-handers go on with construction companies, sponsors and governments. I am not in the least surprised that the Olympics are going ahead despite the obvious risks.

Not always - for centuries it was proper stuff, but that’s more than 1000 years ago

More than 2,000 years ago. Last one was in 520BC and the first modern one was in 1896.

The honour of representing your country. A once in a life experience. Great stories to tell your grand kids even if you don't win a medal.

Free sex and partying in the olympic village might be one of the extra perks but it is not the main reason they go.

Olympics were gonna be ****ed all day long. I don't see how people didn't see this coming.

IMO it's a giant white elephant that is a curse to any country that gets it nowadays. Needs a serious rethink to be viable going forward.

Six GB athletes are now isolating following close contact with a positive-testing member of the public on the same flight into the country. The mile high club is never going to be the same.

What a complete farce. This was always going to happen and it was irresponsible of the Japanese government to let this go ahead in the middle of a pandemic.

Not surprised the Japanese people are so angry about it. It's the sort of stupid thing that Boris would do.
