    Olympics were gonna be ****ed all day long. I don't see how people didn't see this coming.

    IMO it's a giant white elephant that is a curse to any country that gets it nowadays. Needs a serious rethink to be viable going forward.

    The honour of representing your country. A once in a life experience. Great stories to tell your grand kids even if you don't win a medal.

    Free sex and partying in the olympic village might be one of the extra perks but it is not the main reason they go.

    The Olympics are copyrighted, organised and run by a private company; that's the way it's always been. They get the host country to pay for the infrastructure. Lots of bribes and back-handers go on with construction companies, sponsors and governments. I am not in the least surprised that the Olympics are going ahead despite the obvious risks.
