Not having had to suffer the UK immigration system, I don't know how true that is. It's just something a South African friend mentioned to me.
I was listening to a radio show two days ago about the EU settlement scheme.

There are people from the EU who came here before "Freedom of movement" (some where young children) and some EU citizens have a spouse/civil partner from a non-EU country who have it stamped in their passports "right to remain". Absolutely no-one not even the Home Office can tell them if they have to apply for the EU settlement scheme. Some have tried using immigration lawyers to clarify if they or their spouse/civil partner has to apply....

I guess in 20 years we will see Windrush II, with a new Tory government kicking out OAPs.....

Well as official government reports suggest that None EU migration cost £800 a year and EU migration supposedly pays £2,300 into the coffers yet as we have seen since Brexit cheap labour has depressed wages significantly (hospitality, Farming & transport) the figures don't really work for uncontrolled migration.

I'm all for managed migration having the worlds experts here will make us all richer.

World experts can go to any country - why would they want to go here?

It’s not like they could not get here before - there are LESS reasons for them to go here now, that’s for sure.

Government costs, I think from memory, around about 14k per person. Very few migrants will contribute that, almost negligible amounts when considering families.

The only people that win from migration at the volume we have had for the last 20 years is McDonalds and the like. They get someone to flip burgers for 8 quid an hour and paying feck all tax, we have to cover their health costs, kids at school and some tax credits.

More brutal than my post but pretty much true.

I can never understand why so many people seem to think uncontrolled immigration is a good idea for anyone other than employee abusing, tax avoiding multinationals.
