    You'd be surprised how many immigrants, minorities, and people in lower income groups, and the declining middle class, support Republicans.

    And if the Democrats trash the economy, a shedload more will switch to Republicans. They're not stupid, or committed to obstinately maintaining liberal virtue-signalling affectations.

        The irony is that, in terms of actual record, the Dems have done far better on the economy than the GOP in recent decades - and yet the GOP is automatically assumed to be the party of fiscal responsibility. A bit like the Tories here, actually.
        The "liberal virtue signalling" branch of the Dems is pretty small. In reality the Dems are probably some way to the right of moderate Conservatives in the UK.

          There is a difference between conservative and Republican too, although the former don't really have any option but to vote for the latter.

          Of course they do get to directly vote for their candidate which is quite different to the UK.
