EU have only today got around to approving the AZ vaccine. In the meantime AZ have been supplying those quicker to the start. Though whether too quick is premature or just in time is yet to be proven.

Were I AZ & Boris I would offer to supply the expertise to get the factories in the EU up to scratch, maybe send in the red cross and the Army to help!
Send in the UN peacekeepers. Another two letter ineffective organisation with ambitions beyond its capability.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

It does not matter - orders were places many months before trials even finished.

Hadn't got to this bit, scary!

He said: 'The BioNTech vaccine, which is only produced in Europe and has been produced with the aid of the German state and European Union money, has been shipped to the United Kingdom.

'If there is anyone thinking that European citizens would accept that we give this high quality vaccine to the UK and would accept to be treated as second class by a UK-based company, I think that the only consequence can be immediately stopping the export of the BioNtech (vaccine) and then we are in the middle of a trade war.

'So the company and the UK better think twice. When we see Europe is not treated well, not by the United States and not by the UK, then we have to show our weapons.

'We need to tell the other companies in the world if we treat the Europeans as second class, you will suffer for this.'

Why is Johnson stating that the contract between AZ and the UK cannot be published due to 'national security reasons'? Sounds like they made a special kind of deal which if it were made public could backfire...

The UK have already done it. Gove has already said that UK manufactured vaccines can only be exported if there are more than contractually agreed to be delivered in the UK. It's the UK that is currently importing vaccine from the EU. The UK is not exporting.

In fact not only is the UK not exporting vaccines, it's not exporting anything due to bureaucratic red tape.
