Why is Johnson stating that the contract between AZ and the UK cannot be published due to 'national security reasons'? Sounds like they made a special kind of deal which if it were made public could backfire...

UK governments (of all colours) have a habit of refusing to publish contracts due to "national security" or more often "commercial sensitivity" reasons which is why there are some many groups and charities in the UK take them to Court.

In regards to the contract between AZ and the UK, both the UK government and AZ probably can argue that the EU is not a party to the AZ and the UK agreement done under a UK jurisdiction so therefore they have no legal right to see it.

Whether people living in the UK have a legal right is a different matter....
