You cannot buy but you can sell.

Let's see, does this protect the hedge funds or the retail customers?

You cannot buy, the price will crash.

I wouldn't normally post ZH stuff but its at times like these (financial market manipulation) that they actually give good coverage. Any other time they're full of guest content from doomer, conspiracy, prepper, buy gold and silver and bury it in your garden types.

From wiki about market crashes theory:

“In 2011, using statistical analysis tools of complex systems, research at the New England Complex Systems Institute found that the panics that lead to crashes come from a dramatic increase in imitation among investors, which always occurred during the year before each market crash. When investors closely follow each other's cues, it is easier for panic to take hold and affect the market. This work is a mathematical demonstration of a significant advance warning sign of impending market”

Rings a bell? Yes, reddit. Since it’s in on the news they are swarmed with newcomers, my friends with no clue about markets all want to invest and bad companies are going up

There's a lot of talk in pseudo-intellectual circles (SV) that RH's TOS projects them from this behaviour - even if that's so I suspect (hope) the SEC will alter the rules of engagement making any such BS terms unenforceable. Robinhood is aiming to IPO too, so this is gonna be interesting
