There is no time limit, as long they keep answering margin calls (adding more funds to meet the margin requirement). Of course, the losses on a short position are potentially limit less.Originally posted by Pondlife View PostHow long after taking on a short position do they have before they must buy/settle?
If they are shorting with options then the length of time is governed by the expiry date. They can keep rolling the losing options over, to effectively extend the expiry date, which is another mug's game (Scooty is an expert on this).Last edited by DealorNoDeal; 29 January 2021, 12:38.Scoots still says that Apr 2020 didn't mark the start of a new stock bull market.Comment

Look at the interest charged on the stock.Originally posted by Pondlife View PostHow long after taking on a short position do they have before they must buy/settle?

That interest rate forces the shooters to cover their positions. Notice how it has been so volatile as the stock price went up?
Now check out AMC

Notice how it has jumped up. AMC squeeze will start in 2 weeks and the GME scenario will play out again.Vote Corbyn ! Save this country !Comment
