The announcement came as the European commission advised all 27 member states to discontinue bans on flights and trains from the UK and to reopen freight routes to “ensure essential supply chains continue to function”, including for Covid vaccines. The restrictions were brought in to reduce the spread of a new coronavirus variant discovered in the UK.
Flight and train bans imposed by EU countries to prevent the spread of a new and potentially highly contagious strain of the coronavirus from the U.K. should be lifted, the European Commission said in a new recommendation Tuesday.
"While it is important to take swift temporary precautionary action to limit the further spread of the new strain of the virus and all non-essential travel to and from the UK should be discouraged, essential travel and transit of passengers should be facilitated," the Commission said. "Flight and train bans should be discontinued given the need to ensure essential travel and avoid supply chain disruptions."

What both articles seem to be saying is that the EC don't think France should be doing this. New directive coming soon...?
