The Scotland travel ban bewteen them and the rest of the UK was actually added to the guidance on 10 December according to the change log. Neither HWMBO nor I recall it being widely announced at the time.

According to the Independent, the ban is on people wanting to get into Scotland but the wording specifically says "between" implying it covers both directions of travel.

Also, support bubbles are not one of the exemptions that give a reasonable excuse for travel.

We're waiting a few days, also to see what BA do with the flights, before making a decision.

England's new Covid restrictions likely to stay 'for months' until vaccine rollout | World news | The Guardian

New lockdown restrictions imposed on Saturday on millions of people may have to remain in place for several months until vaccines have been rolled out across the UK, the health secretary has said.

              ...

On Sunday, Matt Hancock said additional restrictions for England announced by the prime minister on Saturday may have to remain for “the next couple of months” while a vaccine is rolled out.

“What is really important is that people not only follow them [the new rules] but everybody in a tier 4 area acts as if you have the virus to stop spreading it to other people,” he told Sky News’ Sophy Ridge on Sunday programme.

Wife and I have been lucky enough to see Bill Bailey live 3 times over the years. Love his shows. Glad he won

I just heard Hancock on LBC slagging off the people who travelled out of London last night to beat the legal deadline preventing travel out of Tier 4 so they could spend Christmas with their families. Sadly the interviewer didn't ask Hancock whether he will be travelling from his London residence to his family home in Suffolk for Christmas.
