Could this reasonably be extended to the rest of society to make a less greed-riddled world? Just a semi-philosophical debate about the world. Market forces is what will undo this. There would be a bidding war for people with high levels of skills, experience and expertise. At the less skilled end, it would not be worth employing people, as there would be no profit margin from their labour.

This is why progressive / social democrat types use progressive taxation rates to address variations in income and access to services.

People who are obsessed with equality start with things that appeal to masses, but the next thing you know is that they also want people to be of equal height and colour.

Only after he realised that one call centre worker was moonlighting at McDonalds did he put the wage up to $40K so she could stay & survive how much was she on before?

Agree he has made a step but the suggestion he is forced to live on the same money to make it happen is hardly going to encourage others.

He's slowing down the company's ability to expand, because the excess payments to staff can't then be used to invest in capital in the business. It also makes it more vulnerable to insolvency in a downturn.
Still, it's his money to burn I guess.
