The testing regimes differ so much per country it's still apples and oranges. I think deaths per capita might get a bit closer to the truth, but then are causes of death accurate?

Cases per million people are pointless for comparisons as each country is at a different stage of the pandemic, has different amount of beds per 1000 people (ie. can cope with less / more), less / more testing etc.
The worrying thing I've seen over the last few days is how little people care about social distancing, there's loads of people doing sports together, walking in larger groups with young / old mixed in, people shopping and just in general being out.Comment

When Flu deaths are reported each year in the UK, these are people who have died as a direct result of Flu.
For the Covid-19 deaths, what is being reported is people who have died with the virus in their system; not all these people are necessarily dying of the virus so the numbers are almost certainly over egged, but by how much no one knows as the data is not being collected in the same way that it is for Flu.
Each country reports (tests) in completely different ways too so we're never comparing like for like.Last edited by Whorty; 22 March 2020, 16:54.I am what I drink, and I'm a bitter manComment
