Sandy love. Clearly this issue is close to your heart and I would not want to upset you....... but I have to take issue.
Having a go at someone during an argument is not a race issue, it is an argument issue and when temperatures rise people use any stick to beat the opposition.
Racism is about hate and fear of people of another ethnic background.

I would like you to explain just why anything that has been said is racist. Consider that Jade Goody is of mixed race herself.

But what I say is from personal experience, being a white foreigner I gather I have had it a lot easier if I was black of brown am sure it would've been a lot worse for me..

I do not believe I am in denial Sandy, I honestly believe that you are seeing racism because you are looking for it. You are twisting the reality of what is happening to make it fit your vision.

I don't deny that there is a lot of racism in the UK. I do not agree that it is worse in the UK than anywhere else. Other countries choose to ignore it, or even encourage it. We have made it an issue and are trying to tackle it, but then tends to allow calls of racism where non exists and that undermines the effort.
I suffer from it regularly. It has been my experience that the whole world hates the English and are not shy of telling us what a bunch of twats we are. No that is too flipant for this argument.

If Shelpa had been an upper class English actress she would have suffered the same assault. She would still have been told to go back where she came from, had she been from Yorkshire she would have been called a yorkshire pudding.
You will have to explain why her treatment is racism to me because I do not see it.

To say that it is racism is entirely missing the point of what is happening here. Yes there are elements of racism but they are being used as part of the campaign of these women to go for Shilpa's weak spots. Their problem with her is more to do with envy than the fact that she is black.

Believe it or not black people are just as capable as anyone else of standing up to criticism or abuse as you or any white person is. It does no one any good to be protected from criticism by playing the racist card.

Excellent post. Just because somebody bullies somebody who is of ethnic origin does not make it racist. I must admit I haven't watched BB but I have heard all the fuss on the radio and the clips that have been aired.

In my opinion it is not racist, it is just a bunch of jealous white trash (oops am i being racist now) taking a dislike to a woman who has better manners, a better upbringing, and far better looks.

Ask yourself this if Shilpa had been a posh white aristocrat who looked down on the common people would the same thing have happened? Yes I belive it would.

I am not condoning the behaviour, it does piss me off when people pull out the race card when it is just a simple case of envy and bullying however.

I have to agree.

A while back I was on the jury for a racially aggravated abh case. A large group of white youths smacked the cr*p out of two black youths and their white friend. The prosecution made a big play out of saying how the white youths shouted "you black c*nts, you black b*stards" etc as they assaulted them.

There was a young black woman on the jury aswell. She said "that's not racist, that's just something to say while you are doing it".
