Docklands is a soulless, arid place as described by others here. However if you can live close to Tower Hill, where the DLR is (e.g. in Wapping/St. Katherines Docks/Aldgate ), you'll at least be in the centre of things and able to enjoy London.

So the conclusion is work there but dont live there.
    Hard Brexit now!

Lunar House? I was in B-Block for best part of a year 2002/3. C-Block was as bad.

You lucky, lucky person. I daren't look under the desks there - I was sure something was moving about amongst the cables, dust, dirt, and rotten food.

Docklands is no more solless than the city. When both are empty they are both dull, gloomy places!

However in the summer both are quite nice areas, especially Canary Wharf during the summer concert program.

Canary Wharf is the ugliest place I have ever worked. It's all so fake/dull/gloomy that makes you even regret Watford. Not only that. It's a combination of poor buildings and posh new developments that make you even feel for more sad for the human iniquities. People are just incredibly sad, only factor in their life is money, no respect for anything else. What is symptomatic of the sadness of CW can probably be noticed when everybody rush to the stairs to get up and be the first at work; they just make a big bottleneck and create an unnecessary delay for the rest of the people, while not gaining any advantage themselves. Makes you wonder how the capitalism has gone over the top and destroyed its roof. No way it can even compare to the City of London, which is so pictoresque and even its ugly sides turn to have a certain degree of character which makes it unique. Yes, sure summer time is certainly better but then again even Dubai has more character than CW.
I've seen much of the rest of the world. It is brutal and cruel and dark, Rome is the light.

Ah yes, Dubai. I'll have to visit again soon, seeing as I own half of it.
