Mountains - would mountains of cash do? What about tall buildings, it's got plenty of them.

Salmon - more smoked salmon than you can shake your togger at!

Fresh air - Ah, sorry. Plenty of hot air though.
    Drivel is my speciality

If you like working in a clinical concrete jungle, devoid of anything interesting, you'll like the docklands.

If you only ever want to eat from M&S or Itsu, you'll like the docklands.

If the only people you want to see around you are self important suited w@nkers, you'll like the docklands.

If your idea of a good area is a generic shopping centre full of generic high street chains, you'll like the docklands.

The Docklands and the City are the two places where you can earn the most money. Don't Diss them - take their money and smile Who cares about the surroundings? You are not going to be there forever - or even for long.

Funny. That was exactly my impression of central Sydney.

That's all true, but I've been stuck on projects based in remote business parks - or in the middle of no where (e.g. Barclays in Knutsford) I hated being so remote - I didn't really like Canary Wharf that much, but at least I could visit my bank at lunch time to do what I needed to do, pop out and deliver /collect my dry cleaners / visit the hair dresser etc etc, also there was a Tesco there, and 100's of resturants (towards the Mariot direction) hence it was OK from a facilities point of view. However it did lack any soul !!

Great post. I hated the docklands while I was there. But then I prefer the city. Maybe docklands is prefrable to, say, Citibank in Lewisham.

I've never worked there, but it sounds horrible - a soulless, windy, concrete jungle, and it takes ages to get there from the west.

But I have worked in Croydon, in a slum called B-Block above the Whitgift, and it can't be worse than that, can it?

It is souless, but the 'Kerching' vioces in your head will give you plenty of soul, company and a big smile on your face.

Mountains - would mountains of cash do? What about tall buildings, it's got plenty of them. - sorry, doesn't compute.

Salmon - more smoked salmon than you can shake your togger at! - i smoke around 50% of the salmon i catch/keep so at any time i'll have around 5k of smoked wild salmon in the freezer. none of yer farmed rubbish!

Fresh air - Ah, sorry. Plenty of hot air though. - unfortunately, we have some of that up here too!

still, i suppose that for those crazy enough to dedicate their lives to the pursuit of readies....
