You're all missing the point. If everyone believes in man-made global warming it will encourage more efficient use of our fast-depleting fossil fuels.

This buys us a bit more time to invent di-lithium crystals, cold fusion, and cars that run on piss.

I know my mate Martin's car doesn't run on piss yet because we tried it.

Anyone see the tree hugger on breakfast this morning? Going on about some wind farm being a good idea because it will allow us to control climate change.

I must have missed the memo which declared that man is solely responsible for climate change or sommit?

          Makes sense to limit it

However as we actually directly create 2% of the pollution (mainly because we don't produce anything) yet are a large percentage of the consumption of world production we should try and encourage our suppliers to reduce pollution.

Import taxes set on a green basis as well as local sensible green initiatives such as enforced insulation of houses etc not penalising families going on holiday by retrospectively raising taxes. Note the airlines are going to fight that so look for a net loss!
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Well your mind is pretty closed on the subject isn't it?
I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?

The science is overwhelmingly conclusive about Global Warming and it's causes.

In 1421 a Chinese fleet sailed within two days sailing of the North Pole. It then travelled Eastwards across the Atlantic North of Scotland, up the West Coast of Scandanavia, over North of Russia and thence through the Beiring Straights. Given that they used Wooden ships and such a journey would be difficult enough in modern ships that they navigated it clearly indicates to me that there was less ice in the region then, than now.

Many of those who say that Man is responsible for Global Warming seem to forget the Warm Period that pre-dated both the Agricultural and Industrial Revolutions. Current temperatures are well below that level.

Ask yourself. How many grants are available to those trying to disprove the proposition that man is responsible for any Global Warming rather than it being a normal activity during the planets lifetime.

Further we need alternatives, not because it might destroy the planet, but because oil and other fossil fuels are finite. They are going to run out eventually.

All this uninformed speculation pulled out of thin air. You're no better than Chico. If you don't want to look at the evidence I've posted above (and yes it's challenging) or don't want to change your fixed minds, then FFS stop posting tulipe on the subject.

My 1st degree was in Environmental Science, and I can tell you that global warming is a load of sh!te - at least in the sense that it's portrayed in the media.

There is no doubt that the temperature of the planet is getting warmer, however that is a 100% natural phenomena. There is also no doubt that the human race is making it happen faster, however the human contribution is in no way a cause.

Think about it. It's only 250 years ago that fairs were held in the middle of the frozen Thames in winter. The idea that people of the 1750's caused this to happen is quite obviously boll0cks. Then you have the ice ages. Did primitive man really cause the Earth to freeze up 18,000 years ago? And did he cause the wide scale melting of the ice caps 14,000 years ago that occured within the space of a few decades? I think not...
