David Bellamy on Global Warming

No, a voice that agrees with your point of view. It's not just a case of whether global warming is contributed to by man (and the context is the rate of warming not whether it has been hotter or colder in the past), it seems to be that many on here are pro polution and anti cleaner technology.I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!? -
http://www.ipcc.ch/pub/wg1TARtechsum.pdfOriginally posted by Cowboy BobMy 1st degree was in Environmental Science, and I can tell you that global warming is a load of sh!te - at least in the sense that it's portrayed in the media.
There is no doubt that the temperature of the planet is getting warmer, however that is a 100% natural phenomena. There is also no doubt that the human race is making it happen faster, however the human contribution is in no way a cause.
Think about it. It's only 250 years ago that fairs were held in the middle of the frozen Thames in winter. The idea that people of the 1750's caused this to happen is quite obviously boll0cks. Then you have the ice ages. Did primitive man really cause the Earth to freeze up 18,000 years ago? And did he cause the wide scale melting of the ice caps 14,000 years ago that occured within the space of a few decades? I think not...Hard Brexit now!

We're half-way through the oil, so it'll run out long before Earth gets like Venus, the usual fate of the world trotted out by "scientists".Originally posted by zathrasFurther we need alternatives, not because it might destroy the planet, but because oil and other fossil fuels are finite. They are going to run out eventually.
The biggest problem is there are too many people - using the oil too quickly, chopping down jungles, chucking rubbish in the sea, concreting over fields, and generally fecking up the planet, but none of these clap-trapping tree-huggers make much noise about getting those numbers down, do they!Comment

Why have you got "scientists" in quotes? Do you have a problem with the quality of global warming science? If so I'd like to hear why. Anything else is similar to Chico's religious revelations.Originally posted by stackpoleWe're half-way through the oil, so it'll run out long before Earth gets like Venus, the usual fate of the world trotted out by "scientists".

Agree with the 2nd paragraph. A cull of some of the ignorant feckers on this forum would be a start

Yes, I've already read that. And nowhere in that report does it dispute what I just said.Originally posted by sasguruComment

That might have something to do with the river being narrowed to make it flow faster (that's where the embankment comes from).Originally posted by Cowboy BobThink about it. It's only 250 years ago that fairs were held in the middle of the frozen Thames in winter.Comment

The report flatly contradicts this and suggests there is a significant anthropogenic effect to climate change.Hard Brexit now!

I watched a BBC science docudrama a year or two back about a manned space-ship touring the planets.Originally posted by sasguruWhy have you got "scientists" in quotes? When they got to Venus, which was 450 degrees C and air pressure 100 times what it was on Earth, they said that this will happen to Earth if men continue to use fossil fuel at their current rate.
That's an example of "scientists".Comment
