Interestingly enough when Santander changed one of my accounts from Girobank to their systems mine and everyone else's was as smooth as a whistle , so my experience the Spanish banks are more than competent its just this particular bank.

The systems should always have been run in parallel at least for several months with a phased migration and the old system shouldn't have been decommissioned until it was clear that everything was running perfectly on the new platform.
However this obviously wasn't the case, what a bunch of plonkers.
