They were talking about this on the radio and it was suggested that kids should have both parents' names with hyphen.

So what happens if someone with a hyphenated name marries another with a hyphenated name? If they are not careful who they marry, after a few generations, people could have names several hundred characters long.

I've seen triple barrelled before - frightfully posh.

Maybe most unsexist approach would be to call everybody xxxxx. Or maybe assign unique registrations just as we do with car number plates.

Rather than all this messing about. The bloke can say I'm not getting married if you don't take my name. It's simple, if she is not up for that move on and find someone who respects you as a man.

I think it's time to start being men here, and stop bending backwards. Now, of course if your surname is cockwomble then fair enough take the misses surname.

When I got married I told the wife to be to keep her maiden name if she preferred. And she has done for work.
There's no way I'd change mine. Not because I'm precious about it, but because it's almost a removal of identity. I completely understand why anyone would refuse.

I really don't understand why this berk did it though. Unless of course, getting on the news was important to him. Maybe he'll appear on daytime TV next.
