Why is Princess Di everywhere?

Normally I would run a mile from anything involving that vacant tart. However the alternative is Brexit.

Her death was a major inflexion point. When the UK turned from being stiff upper lipped to blubbing about everything.

Prince Philip was right about her. A pity that monarchs can no longer behead those who are annoying.

My son's karate teacher posts on his website that he was party of of the bodyguard team that "took care of Princess Diana". I did ask him once if that was at the request of Prince Philip.

A great tragedy for her kids. However they are born into a position of enormous privilege and have to take the good with the bad.

I've been wondering that. Traditionally it's been the Daily Express (that "bloody awful paper" as the Duke of Edinburgh so rightly once called it) who've had an utter obsession with Princess Di. I think this is largely because the Express sees itself as primarily a woman's paper, and assumes that women are naturally more interested in Princess Di.

But recently the Daily Mail have started chiming in with two or three online articles each day, on Di and her sons. They even have a "Princess Di" section on their online summary page.

The DM also seems to have been consistently dissing Prince Charles recently. Is that just their prejudice and attempts to manipulate public opinion, perhaps to pave the way for the direct succession of Prince William, or are they engaged in the start of some officially sanctioned and even encouraged "succession management" exercise with the same aim? The latter seems very unlikely, but who knows.

During my classic car phase I nearly bought her old car from her pre-princess days (role not Austin).

Was a W-reg Ford Escort Ghia, she was previous owner, £3295 - pretty steep when you consider you could get an Aston Martin V8 for £4295, which I did.

Monstrously heavy clutch on it, used to work down East Lancs rd, few weeks of that plus novelty wore off, left leg like a tree trunk due to clutch pressing every 300 yds at the lights, flogged it and got S Citroen BX diesel.
