I don't see the issue TBH. Would be good if everyone learnt the native language of the country they are living in (or at the least enough to be courteous).

The French have exactly the same thing, they also have a group which campaigns for the French language.

The Spanish want everyone to learn their language.

So, why you have such an obsession with the German language, I don't know. Is it because the Daily Mail supported them at the start of the Second World War, or because the Queen's family are from there?

To be fair, Rothermere stopped supporting Hitler and his 'super-human work' in mid-1939.

Interestingly if you look at the infographic English seems to be the most widely spoken, but no where near the most frequently spoken.

One of my theories about these strange Brexiters not liking Europeans is probably due to their school years. I suspect that when the foreign exchange students were there, they were the only ones who couldn't get off with them at the leaving party
