Hah well, in the O.P, the most critical date, possibly the most important date with the exception of joining the EU was missed.

In the spirit of things I will have a go and fix this omission.

No only the UK allowed the freedom of movement from Eastern European countries.

Even that important event seems to be now misunderstood, but lets face it the whole Brexit argument is based on a pack of lies.

I thought that enshrining in EU law that Britain would never have to join in further political union while still having access to the single market was quite a good one.
Sadly because of the crass shouting of the Brexit cretins it was completely overlooked.

Let's face it, most things that an empty-headed, dumpling-brained, blowhard like you think are "quite good", generally get "completely overlooked" by anyone with a modicum of intelligence.

On the basis that nothing you have said up to this point indicates that this decision could ever have been reversed, (and to be fair to you, I don't believe it actually could have been reversed) once the war criminal had done his bit, there was no going back. So, not so much a pack of lies, more a realistic assessment of the utter sh.ite that Bliar (mainly but not exclusively) happily dug for us.

that's not historically correct, because at the time, Germany, Austria, France, etc imposed a 5 year ban on people from the accession countries joining their labour markets.

Britain, on the other hand, invited the workers from CEE with open arms

That is the difference, Britains fault, not the EU's - like so many of the hollow Brexiter arguments

In May 2004, the EU welcomed ten new member states – the majority from Central and Eastern Europe – in what was the largest expansion in the history of European integration. The UK was one of only three member states, alongside Sweden and Ireland, to open its labour market to these new EU citizens immediately.


One can only conclude, this was what big business wanted.

Your mind is still in the days of the British Empire.
You mean, Mickey Mouse countries with faster Internet that the UK, trains that run on time,
Higher standard of education etc etc

With the pound fallen from 1.48 euro at the start of the Euro to 1.12 today that would have been the best.
