Real change will only happen by engaging with the imans, and the community so they themselves root out the bad apples, ..
which was the aim of the scheme I proposed earlier in this thread, including a financial aspect, i.e. something like a modern version of Frankpledge :
Frankpledge, earlier known as frith-borh (literally "peace-pledge"), was a system of joint suretyship common in England throughout the Early Middle Ages.
The essential characteristic was the compulsory sharing of responsibility among persons connected through kinship, or some other kind of tie such as an oath of fealty to a lord or knight. (read "Imam" - OH)
All men over 12 years of age were joined in groups of approximately ten households. (might need more these days - OH)
This unit, under a leader known as the chief-pledge or tithing-man, was then responsible for producing any man of that tithing suspected of a crime. If the man did not appear, the entire group could be fined. ...
But no, it's obviously a batty idea because it's well known that Owly is a "deranged ukipper" (I think the phrase was)
"Prime Minister Theresa May said soldiers are being placed at Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, embassies and the Palace of Westminster to support armed police in protecting the public."
I don't get this sentence (taken from the beeb), how is that protecting the public? More like protecting the elite.
If a bomb goes off there, it will be the public who get hurt by it.
Not sure armed soldiers will prevent another attack as they will only be in prominent places. Someone could set off a bomb at a local village fete or firework display and kill just as many people.

Soldiers are on the streets to calm down the population. If you wonder why it's worth protecting famous buildings you need to remember that they actually mean a lot to many people. Those buildings are part of the history of this country and they have huge sentimental value. Also, by virtue of being famous they are attractive targets. Blowing up one of them or even setting off an explosive near one of them has a huge PR value. Terrorists won't target a local village fete, because it's worthless for them. Nobody cares about your local village. A lot of people care about 10 Downing St. or the Tower Bridge.
