Sadly, NI was/is a completely different situation. One side had an aim (unification of Ireland) which could be negotiated. What's negotiable in this case?

One other thing that should be noted from NI is that it has completely separate communities. It was (and still is) possible to spend your entire life without having to have any meaningful relationship with someone from 'the other side'. I suspect England is heading down this route.

      I was thinking Western Sahara.

I hear the beaches are lovely & they can all have it out with the Polisario Front when they get bored.

Nah my neighbours and the people buying Halal meat in the supermarket have to deal with the likes of me.

No, but a lot of people come down from NI for the match.

Based on photos of the bomber in the press, IMO, his dull eyes don't shout evil but an extremely disturbed, brainwashed, lost young man.

Need to extend mental health sectioning powers ASAP to round up these dangerous individuals (they are known to security services) and place them in re-opened old-style asylums. Obviously they will have the option to leave the country if they don't fancy it.

Which is an impressive display of liberal progressive tolerance to show the extremists we will not be cowed.

Listening to Amber Rudd this morning & reading between the lines I think it's got more to do with making up the shortful in numbers of police officers because a lot of forces are saying they can't cope. She flatly denied this, of course, but not very convincingly.

She was like a toad crossing a pond by hopping from lily pad to lily pad only to run out of lily pads.
