Not sure if a massage is going to sort out. Having done some research it appears to be the sort of thing that lasts a good while unless you have some sort of medical intervention. Its not great mind like I said.
A good Thai massage will help a lot. These are deep tissue stretching massages and can be quite painful but you will feel better the next day.
A good Thai massage, by a well endowed lady boy, will help a lot. These are deep tissue stretching massages and can be quite painful but you will feel better the next day.

I get stressed sitting at the desk don't even notice half the time until someone points out my head has sunk into my chest and neck has all but disappeared.
A Thai or even Swedish massage is done properly it'll have you squirming. Just drink plenty water afters.

Had it when I was 33. Turned out to be two slipped disks in my neck. Was on tramadol, max dose ibuprofen (3x800mg a day), valium and fragmin (to prevent clots due to being fairly immobile). After a double diskectomy and spinal fusion (four hours of major surgery), the pain all went away, which was nice - didn't need the pain killers at all. Unfortunately, I'm left with a partially paralysed triceps and numbness in my left hand due the nerve damage (From the slipped disks, not the surgery). I was off work (permie at the time) for 5 months.
Had a really cool scar across my throat, but it's faded now - the surgeon's stitching was just too good.
If you have any numbness or muscle weakness, see a doc asap. The neurologist who first saw me figured out the issue just using pins to map the numbness. Then it was confirmed by an MRI - a CAT scan showed nothing.
Flippin hurts like buggery. NHS useless - have a few painkillers. Private cortisone injection next on cards I think....
Anyone else ever have? Apparently its more common when you're over 40 {sigh}
Unfortunately GPs get loads of people with back, neck and shoulder pain which can be caused by any number of conditions. You are best of sorting it out yourself and only going to the GP if you are told you need a referral to a specialist.

Hey - I made an almost full recovery and it doesn't affect my daily life very much at all. My intent was to encourage you to push on to get the help you need (if you need it).
To check if you've got muscle weakness, there are some simple tests you can do. You need someone to work with. The first 8 exercises here are what one of my doctors did: https://informatics.med.nyu.edu/modu...ery/motor.html
You can get an MRI done privately for less than £500.
