The MauveMonkey is partly right. But ...

""As soon as it (Britain) is leaving the EU it is not participating in these programmes any longer," said Bruston.

Furthermore, UK-based companies hold contracts worth tens of millions of euros from ESA to supply hardware for Copernicus as well as the Galileo satnav system, a rival to America's GPS.

"If nothing changes (and Brexit goes ahead), we would have to stop these contracts," said Bruston.

So we pay our obligations but have to stop participation to exiting contracts?

        I doubt that...

True, there is no logic or fairness to the EUs approach to Brexit beyond 'stuff the Brits!'

To be fair, though, the collapse of manufacturing post Brexit was clearly seen by some Brexiters.
No doubt some Brexiters voted for Brexit because they saw manufacturing as outdated and unneccesary:

MPs react after Vote Leave economist admits Brexit would 'mostly eliminate manufacturing' - Chronicle Live

"Over time, if we left the EU, it seems likely that we would mostly eliminate manufacturing, leaving mainly industries such as design, marketing and hi-tech. But this shouldn’t scare us."
