Independently wealthy? Not at all. The whole family scrimp and save to get someone smuggled in so that they can work and send money home. You're very green for a vetran....The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't exist -
So by your logic they can't be from a war zone if they are using traffickers?Originally posted by vetran View PostOK so 90% of Migrants are either independently wealthy in their own country, not from a war zone or seriously in debt to criminals?
Yeah that is going to end well.
Sorry I actually thought some of them were vaguely honest. Now I want them here even less.
Many of them have been saving for years and/or selling all of their possessions/property to pay the couple of $1000s to the traffickers, this doesn't make them wealthy.
And hope you understand that "enslaving" people after their trafficking across the border until they pay-off their "debt" is modus operandi for these gangs.Comment

with an average annual Syrian wage of US$ 3,662 it might take a while to find the $10k they need.Originally posted by LondonManc View PostIndependently wealthy? Not at all. Afghanistan average yearly wage - US$ 274 - well.
Irag might have a chance US$ 15,258.
Apparently they promise the future earnings of the migrant to pay off the debt or the sister ends up in a Brothel.

But what an upright citizen! If he was in a war zone, Luton or some other troubled place, he'd never buy on the black-market, never associate with a criminal gang in order to try to get someone where better and never indulge in those little practices that some people feel forced to in order for them and their loved ones to survive.Originally posted by LondonManc View PostYou're very green for a vetran....
My wife's family fled Vietnam in the late 70s, due to being the wrong ethnicity. They had to bribe the police to be able to leave in peace, and they had to pay a smuggling operation to get them to Hong Kong. Thank-you for labelling them criminals.
What do you care if she ends up in a brothel. She's part of the criminal class, so why not?Originally posted by vetran View PostApparently they promise the future earnings of the migrant to pay off the debt or the sister ends up in a Brothel.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

the point is by giving the migrants access we are encouraging this trade.Originally posted by sal View PostSo by your logic they can't be from a war zone if they are using traffickers?

as above most of them would need to be pretty wealthy to afford even $2000 given the average wage.Comment

What encouragement? What do you propose doing instead?Originally posted by vetran View Postthe point is by giving the migrants access we are encouraging this trade.`
Fact check. Mostly false.most of them would need to be pretty wealthy to afford even $2000 given the average wage.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

So stop accepting refugees and let them get killed in the war zone. After all most of the migrants claim to be refugees, not economic migrants (I'm sure that is not the case but it's besides the point).Originally posted by vetran View Postthe point is by giving the migrants access we are encouraging this trade.

Gold jewelry is quite popular in the middle east, in many cases the migrants are selling family heirlooms to raise the money. Also in many cases whole families are pooling their finances to get a couple of family members across with the hope that they will be able to earn enough to send back home and get the rest ofthe family out.
In any case wealth shouldn't matter in case of war refugees.
Using "Discouraging human trafficking" as an excuse to close down borders is laughable.Comment
