    Celebrity deaths - some perspective

Curse of 2016 claims some homeless bloke apparently

Last night BBC News 24 interrupted its rolling 72-hour coverage of the undoubtedly tragic deaths of George Michael and Carrie Fisher to put Williams’ death into some kind of context.

Well, it would be in poor taste to have a competition to be the first to announce the death of an unknown homeless person.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Should there be a "Dead Nonentities Thread"? It could rival TPD in size quite rapidly…

The former IT worker and Star Wars fan has been rocked by a series of traumatic celebrity deaths that have left him unable to hold down a proper job.
quick lets do a head count on CUK. Why are the saddos always IT workers?

Seriously very sad, we should remember for every rich celebrity that dies after overindulging on the nose powder or even by natural causes plenty of normal people die cold & afraid.
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

It is natural we should get more upset by deaths of people who made us happy. Even if well rewarded, it is sad they are gone.

I just wanted some perspective. Since Princess Diana the UK seems to have lost its stiff upper lip. Prince Philip can teach the country about getting on with things.

Death comes to us all, and a little bit quicker for those who cross me.

Stop saying nonsenses, you look depressed. Buy a dog/cat, training to run the marathon, give corn to your chickens, find something that you enjoy to do, etc....

                This ^

Sending journalists, cameramen, sound recordists out to cover stories costs £££. But showing old tv clips, celebrity talking heads etc makes for lots of cheap telly.

Apart from UK politicians and government departments trying to release things in the quiet on their websites, the Christmas and New Year period tends to be slow for news. Therefore every famous person that dies helps to fill up news space on the cheap.

This is true. I guess most of the 'serious' journalists are on holiday too.
