Oddly enough I don't agree with UKIP but would have been happy if a different election system gave them more MPs.

Independents are often an anti-party vote, so not really any different. Martin Bell stood against Neil Hamilton as an anti-sleeze candidate; Galloway was because of Iraq. Neither anything to do with the local area.

Often doesn't equal always. One reason why no government will reveal their plans for cuts to the NHS is to ensure they don't get a candidate like Dr Richard Taylor elected.

Then don't vote for her at the next election. "local and national" interests are both served. Some people vote according to national interests some vote for ideals, some vote for local interests and some vote for personal reasons our system of democracy works as best as a system can in my view. When whiners start making fatuous comments like "the system is broken" they might like to instead propose a better way - otherwise they look and sound stupid.

I'm surprised we haven't seen the news clamouring about the "they're all white men" angle yet. I'm sure that will come soon, maybe after the judges he appoints also turn out to be white men.

Although in the interests of fairness it would be sensible to look at the boards of his companies to see how many of them are not white men, the sample size for his presidential appointments is quite small.
