Oddly enough I don't agree with UKIP but would have been happy if a different election system gave them more MPs."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JR -
Often doesn't equal always. One reason why no government will reveal their plans for cuts to the NHS is to ensure they don't get a candidate like Dr Richard Taylor elected.Originally posted by VectraMan View PostIndependents are often an anti-party vote, so not really any different. Martin Bell stood against Neil Hamilton as an anti-sleeze candidate; Galloway was because of Iraq. Neither anything to do with the local area.
The MPs employ flunkies for that. Or how do you think MPs answer constituency mail AND have other jobs?Originally posted by VectraMan View PostI
Another broken part of the system is that if your MP happens to be say, Prime Minister, then she obviously isn't going to spend any real time on the interests of your local area. At least the US get that bit right."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Then don't vote for her at the next election. "local and national" interests are both served. Some people vote according to national interests some vote for ideals, some vote for local interests and some vote for personal reasons our system of democracy works as best as a system can in my view. When whiners start making fatuous comments like "the system is broken"
they might like to instead propose a better way - otherwise they look and sound stupid.

I'm surprised we haven't seen the news clamouring about the "they're all white men" angle yet. I'm sure that will come soon, maybe after the judges he appoints also turn out to be white men.
Although in the interests of fairness it would be sensible to look at the boards of his companies to see how many of them are not white men, the sample size for his presidential appointments is quite small.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

A glance at the leadership of Trump International reveals that pretty much your only chance of getting a seat on the board if you are female is to have the surname 'Trump'.it would be sensible to look at the boards of his companies to see how many of them are not white men,My subconscious is annoying. It is precisely this imposition of the sanctity of liberal views that people are railing against.Originally posted by pjclarke View PostA glance at the leadership of Trump International reveals that pretty much your only chance of getting a seat on the board if you are female is to have the surname 'Trump'.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment
