Imagine if Scotland had voted to leave in 2014. They would still be arguing about departure terms....Comment

The New Statesman is a British political and cultural magazine published in London. Founded as a weekly review of politics and literature on 12 April 1913, it was connected then with Sidney and Beatrice Webb and other leading members of the socialist Fabian Society, such as George Bernard Shaw who was a founding director."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". There were riots in the streets of Scotland for years because the ordinary Scots didn’t want the union.

Combined with English financial offers to refund Scottish losses on the Darien scheme, the Act achieved its aim, leading to the Acts of Union 1707 uniting the two countries as the Kingdom of Great Britain.Old Greg - In search of acceptance since Mar 2007. Hoping each leap will be his last.Comment

It's just tries to prove that the scheme didn't fail because of Scottish incompetence. In the real world many schemes don't fail because of incompetence but because competing forces win. TBH I don't believe the thesis, it's bias is set out right from that start. I find it hard to believe this is the definitive article on the Darien Scheme.
The Scottish need to stop blaming the English for all their issues and take responsibility.Comment
