Why is this interesting... say from those people who work in retail?"Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". Mark Twain -

Indeed it is - and in fact want to see some clear southern centric reporting
"Based on a calculation of how many tech jobs there are per head of the local population, Cambridge, Reading and Bracknell, and Oxford and Abingdon take the lead. It's no coincidence that all three have universities with strong reputations for science, engineering and computing.
Southampton and Manchester also do well. And Ipswich is another standout, thanks to the fact that many firms there have congregated around the headquarters of BT Research - the telecoms firm's R&D division."
Actual figures
Cambridge 15
Manchester 14
Reading and Bracknell 13
Oxford and Abingdon 10
Southampton 10
So surely the first line should read
"Cambridge, Manchester and Reading and Bracknell take the lead ya da ya da
With Oxford and Abingdon also doing well etc"
Or not?Comment

Given that Manchester had UMIST as a separate entity for so long and do have a teensy weensy bit of technical history from splitting the atom through to the latest breakthrough in graphene, then it'd foolish not to talk about that. That said, the reporter probably associates Manchester with Corrie, football and MediaCity.Originally posted by original PM View PostIndeed it is - and in fact want to see some clear southern centric reporting
