We had torrential rain, thunderstorms, flash floods and travel disruption oop North on Tuesday and no-one gave a toss on national news. Once the Sarf East is affected, it's a headline-worthy crisis.
That's cos a larger proportion of the UK population live in London and the SE than the North.

I arrived into London at 6am today on the sleeper train into Paddington. Casually went for some breakfast at the GWR 1st-class lounge knowing my KGX connection wasn't until 7:30 and early morning it only takes 15 min to get across.
Thought I'd check the TFL website to see how frequently the trains were, only to find there was a strike!
Made my connection by about 10 minutes but only because the 20-minute reduced service just happened to arrive as I got on the platform.
It was raining quite a lot too - is this thread about the strike or the weather?
Both, but mainly for those with further to travel; the landslide on the Watford/MK stretch of track was causing cancellations on West Coast mainline.
