    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe..._Customs_Union

This seems the most appropriate place for the UK. A common tariff on goods imported or exported.

    Brexit now and implement please.

    Can we move on now?

They cope by having a manufacturing base and trade agreements with the EU, neither of which we do.

If Britain joins the custom union then third countries such as China and Japan can export to the UK via their EU distribution centres using EU tariffs, but the UK won't be able to export directly to Japan and China etc. Firstly it will put the UK at a massive disadvantage in negotiating deals with countries who can simply bypass the UK by exporting via the EU, ("why should we agree to your terms when we can export via the EU" ) and secondly it will motivate UK companies to invest heavily in the EU to be able to export at the same preferential tariffs, because they can't get the deals they want.

The Brexit negotiations are going to be interesting. Whatever happens the EU will remain the centre of the UK's universe.

          I'm alright Jack

Yeah, we'd never look at changing our agreement status if we left the EU

The penny hasn't yet dropped with cretinous Brexiters that the choices are simple:

              1. Access the single market and accept freedom of movement
              2. Walk away from the single market and commit economic suicide.

I wonder which will be picked?

Oh yes, the old "we'll do things our way, unilaterally" argument of the Brexiters.

We currently have the best trade agreement status that we could have with the EU, so let's change that to something worse, things will be so much better....[emoji1]

I think that's where I'd disagree with you.

look at this way they have gone from "there will be no deal without freedom of movement" to "You won't be allowed to trade with anyone else"

As before I think Bremainers are just "crazy ex" material. They are really just a few key presses from I'll scratch your car and cut up your clothes.

Who said do it our way? There are solutions already in place that other countries have used that we could use.

There are some seriously miserable BREMOANERS about.
