Taken from Wikipedia (fount of all knowledge )

Individuals experiencing a mid-life crisis may feel:
      • a deep sense of remorse for goals not accomplished
      • a fear of humiliation among more successful colleagues
      • longing to achieve a feeling of youthfulness
      • need to spend more time alone or with certain peers
      • a heightened sense of their sexuality or lack thereof
      • ennui, confusion, resentment or anger due to their discontent with their marital, work, health, economic, or social status
      • ambitious to right the missteps they feel they have taken early in life

So basically that's General covered then...

He had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Given the lack of humility in General, I'd say item 2 is the exception that proves the rest.

My mum still tells people "he works with computers"

Less embarrassing than telling them I work in the banking sector in London I suppose.

To do my mid life crisis properly, what else do I need to do?
175 horses? Pah. My pedestrian oil burning Lexus has that many. And more torques than your Whizz Bang

I think you'll find the 175bhp is a 4 pot 2l oil burner, lighter than a Lexus but still with lots of torques.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore
