    An excellent article...

Forget for a moment that the only piece of directly discriminatory legislation – designed to discriminate on grounds of residency and in effect birth – in these islands is the SNP policy on student tuition fees. Scots and students from the EU do not pay, but English students from over the border must. Imagine if English universities reciprocated and levied a Scottish fee, but they wouldn’t and don’t, and being English quietly get on with welcoming all from these islands on an equal basis. What they do in terms of foreign students is obviously going to be a hot topic and May will come under pressure. But they don’t discriminate against Scottish students, like the Scottish government discriminates against English students.
Spare us the SNP sanctimony about May and migration - Reaction

Very odd flash crash in Cable just now. Dropped ~8c to ~1.18 on no particular news, then recovered ~5c.

      Extremely unusual.

Unusual range, but it simply to catch guys with stoploss as many people expected GBP to rebound.

Not unusual the Brexit bunch knew this would happen.

Some chaps have made quite a mint over night (and others lost a mint as well).
Today should be another wild day with the US non farm payrolls. I do hope some Tory minister can also blab a bit on 'hard' Brexit. That should send cable diving for cover

I expect article 50 to advance to next week. Holding off until March will cause more pain.

Fat finger algorithm during light trade between end of US and start of Asian trading.

Interesting that manual and automated buying kicked in at 1.18. Rumour it touched 1.14 but little or no volume to prove it.

Mother Theresa should really get on with it. I don't know why there's any delay really. She's made it clear, she wants to control immigration, the EU have made it clear they won't budge on free movement, so we best accept we are out of the single market, and are going to be trading with the EU on basic WTO terms. It would make sense to spend the next 2 years dealing with the technicalities/fall-outs of that, rather than trying to get a deal for single market access which is not forthcoming.

But if she did we would get all the bleating about us not being ready etc

Nah, this was an algo misfire in an illiquid trading period. IIRC, that's the third largest move in Cable ever.
