As a gesture of goodwill, they can have the north of England too, doesn't really seem to do much, so they may as well have it.

No, they wont. Scotland is to small to be an independent country in the world. They will be carrying too big a gamble if they try and vote to leave the UK and go to the EU instead. Scotland is torn between leaving the UK and staying (the last vote showed us this), and whilst the pull is towards the EU, the risk is that by the time they have gone through the EU process to join, the EU will be in the process of falling apart. Who wants to be the last person to join a failing pyramid scheme?

The SNP dearly want to hold another leave the UK referendum, but the risk of losing is too large. If they lose then the SNP will be finished (at least the current leadership will be) and if they win, then the risk is the failing EU.

The SNP will instead make loud noises about leaving the UK, and will let the dust settle and see what happens.

Does anyone here also share the sentiment given that Leavers want the free movement of Labour, Goods and Services and hence inevitably all the associated EU rules, laws and regulations that come with that, that leaving the EU is a rather pointless excercise.

              Oh get over yourself.

Scotland voted to remain, you're pulling them out. We're not torn but the feeling of animosity has grown. I just hope it can be directed for good.

Insane isn't it? They probably still expect a seat at the table to control those decisions.

Says the scotsman not living in scotland. When the meeting breaks up in half an hour or so, lets see who is right. Me personally (with a scottish wife), I am not bothered one way or another if scotland wants another Ref#2, I will just grab my popcorn and watch what happens with interest. Leave or stay, it will be interesting times for all concerned. And think of all the contractors earning some cash rebuilding a wall.

For me the free movement of labour makes senses.
Turning up and accessing free benefits in countries does not make sense.
Goods and services makes sense, but also the ability to negotiate that outside of the EU if necessary makes sense.
A European Army and sabre rattling at Russia from a bunch of unelected cronies in Brussels scares the crap out of me, specially as one of them is almost Austrian.
And the fact they can pass laws, and you have a court of law above your own sovereign state is a joke.

The truth is the EU should have stopped at trade & labour. Everything else smarts of a European Super state and loss of sovereignty. This is why I voted out.

According to the Brexiters no-one inside the EU is an independent country. So nothing to worry about there.

5 million people is about the same as Denmark, Finland, Norway, Slovakia and Ireland. All too small to be independent countries?
