So you are saying that the member states should surrender their sovereignty to the EU who according to you seem to know what they are doing despite the fact that the EU has now gone into a deflationary spiral like Japan.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone -
Try Googling "Richard Nixon" and then get back to us....Originally posted by SueEllen View PostWho are "they"? US voters?
US voters can't REMOVE their president during their term. Only the Senate can remove them.
Likewise the President of the Commission and all the commissioners can be removed during their term by the European Parliament.
Neither the US senate or European parliament have ever done this.

1: I never said it was equal, merely the closest equivalent comparison in UK political terms.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostThe Commission is not equal to the UK cabinet.
Laws that the commission have proposed have been vetoed by MEPs so not even put to vote.
The proposals for laws come from members states, plus EU institutions.
The commission does boring admin things e.g. collecting their huge expenses and allowances.

Because the Queen had the power to do this and other things prior to us joining the EU, right?
Well done for spotting my meaning. I'll spell it out for you:
Our monarchy over the last few hundred years has had power transferred from the head of state (Monocracy) to a an elected government (Democracy).
The EU seeks that more power transferred from our democratically elected government (again Democracy), to an unelected commission (Dictatorship).
Seriously, if you're trolling, it's top class trolling -- to wit -- it's unclear whether or not you're trolling.Last edited by rl4engc; 14 June 2016, 12:15.Originally posted by Nigel Farage MEP - 2016-06-24 04:00:00"I hope this victory brings down this failed project and leads us to a Europe of sovereign nation states, trading together, being friends together, cooperating together, and let's get rid of the flag, the anthem, Brussels, and all that has gone wrong."Comment

You mean, he jumped before he was pushed? Pushed by the US Senate?Originally posted by SueEllen View PostHe resigned before they could get rid of him.
Johnson and Clinton who were both impeached where found not guilty.
Clinton I feel a bit of sympathy for. If I were married to Hillary I wouldn't have said "no" to a bit of a gobble from a young intern...Hardly corruption on a grand scale, is it? For that you have to look at the EU Commission. His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...Comment

So am I. And it's a small price to pay, IMHO.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View Postit is the liberal self loathing leftie way to take a position and defend it on every facet of an argument. why not just admit that the EU is undemocratic and argue the case for staying in. It's a marriage of convenience - as part of it some "sovereign rights" need to be forgone unless there is mutual agreement how they are used by ALL members.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostSo you are saying that the member states should surrender their sovereignty to the EUComment

Do you think he'd been ok to go down to jail as the SECOND successfully impeached president? I reckon not...Originally posted by SueEllen View PostHe didn't want to go down as the first successfully impeached president.Comment
