There's a few people on Linkedin would do well to understand that Birmingham, Alabama and Birmingham, GB are two different places.

You are not wrong. I was once approached about a job in London, Ontario. The poor bugger got a bit peed off when I asked about expenses, and quoted a "silly" rate. He said "but you already live in London".
