I like the idea but then I ride a motorbike to work when not getting the train/tube/etc.

It does cause a lot of arguments on estates where people block access to driveways or are generally downright anti-social with their parking behaviour I'm all for it.

The one that really winds me up the most is where people have a driveway or garage and instead park on the road.

My just teenage daughter takes the bus to school. Despite being 'vulnerable' she has been turfed off the bus or the bus has just sailed past her at 7am for a number of outrageous reasons.

Her "family & friends" weekly bus pass wasn't signed on the back. It was valid but the bus driver knew better. Thrown off the bus.

The bus was 'too busy' 3 buses in a row sailed past her.

        She had the incorrect change.

luckily the wife or I can normally rush & collect her but frankly you would talk about sacking an employee if they were repeatedly late.

Its a 3 mile Journey and she leaves at 7 am.

I have been refused boarding an empty bus with an obviously crocked bike. He refused to talk to me he just slammed the doors, waved his finger at me and drove off.

If you are middle aged and are relying on the bus to get to work you have failed.

          .
Indeed, I'm talking about a best case scenario where you live in a large town and work in a nearby large town. Even then it's totally impractical.

The days of people working close to where they live are like 50 years out of date. Buses worked when everyone lived near a massive employer that the whole town worked at, and they worked there most of their lives.

indeed - in fact going completely off topic me and the missus are taking the kids to Norfolk broads - doing a bit of crusin'

so thought we could moor at Oulton Broad and stroll to the 'theme park' in Lowestoft - it's about 4 miles.

According to Google maps it will take about 1 hour to walk.... or about 1h 30 to get train and then bus.....

so we may just get a taxi ...... which will take 15 minutes and probably cost less than then bus/train combo...

            crazy

That article is BS I got PCN 62 in the 90s which is for parking with wheels other than on the carriageway. It's just not been consistently enforced.

I turned my garage into a dungeon.

But if people have a driveway they should park on that instead of the road.

Apart from space to the motorbike my garage is usual dumping ground for bikes, boxes and the usual stuff accumulated over the years!

Pavement parking should be the exception, not the rule (as it is in London). So fully support this, roads that are genuinely too narrow to support it can have marked bays painted on the pavement.

Parking Fines and Lines > Contravention Zone > Code 62
Pretty sure its only illegal (or a civil offence, not sure) in London.
