The point is we made our own decisions. If you want to go down the path of the EU making better decisions for our own good then bring it on.Originally posted by scooterscot View PostI strongly disagree. Most of the UK's problems, like the Greeks, are or our own making. Socialists blame everyone but themselves. Our debt grew when we bailed out the banks, the EU din't force us to. We broke our own capitalist rules. We spent disgusting amounts of money on illegal conflicts that were never a threat to realm. Did the EU ask us to? Er no. but the US did, so we played along. Did the EU ask us to devalue our currency? No. QE has done nothing to help us, we're still in the same pickle as 2008.
If you think about the money we spent in war, QE, failed banks being members of the EU is like shopping for penny sweets in comparison.Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyoneComment

I wonder if you tracked the price of a pint of milk against the price of a 1st class stamp through the decades, how well they'd correlate?Originally posted by scooterscot View PostJeepers how expensive have stamps become in my absence. No-one knows the economic outcome of BrExit. Do we make our own decisions or not?Comment

Counterpoint... it seems we're not very good at making decisions.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostThe point is we made our own decisions.
In any case, how is it the French adapt new EU laws to suit their economy, the Italians just ignore it altogether until the EU applies something that fits for them, and the UK moan 'it's sooooo unfair!' without even challenging it.
The bottom line is the UK has never tried to be part of the EU. We've generally ignored it rather than be part of it. Then throw a hissy fit when it does not go our way. Reminds me of my screaming bambino.Last edited by scooterscot; 15 April 2016, 12:14."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". That's a problem the world over though right now. Has there ever been a less inspiring bunch of leaders? Does anyone stand for, or against, anything any more?Originally posted by scooterscot View PostCounterpoint... it seems we're not very good at making decisions.
I completely agree that our politicians are dreadful. But then, so are everyone else's.Comment
