If only a UK politician would say the same about ICT visas here.

It's very easy for any politician (or wannabe politician) to say what they're going to do; actually doing it is a different matter. Voters would do well to learn that until they get elected everything a candidate says is hot air and propaganda, and should be ignored. Us contractors are judged on our past record and our CVs, it should be the same for politicians. Treat them as candidates for a four-year contract and see if you'd hire them on that basis.

What can be outsourced, has been.
And because the capabilities of Indian outsourcers are low, it's turned out to be the grunt, non-value-added work.
Some outsourced work is being returned as it's beyond their capabilities.

High value work remains in country.
If you've been bobbed, take a long, hard look at your skill set.
Which is not to say one should be complacent, simply that the outsourcing companies for some reason have not yet managed to tap into the best and brightest - perhaps those people are all setting up companies in the US.

There is some truth in that. But the quality of outsourcers continues to rise.

Rather like health care. Some people now visit India for an operation - it is cheaper than staying in the UK. And the quality can be as good as the UK.
