600K people may come here, but that ignores the fact that some of them are British, more than half are non-EU citizens, and half as many leave at the same time.

    According to:

    Migration Watch UK | Statistics-net-migration-statistics

    617,000 people arrived.

87,000 of them were British. 273,000 of them were non EU, leaving 257,000 from the EU.

85,000 of them left, meaning the net migration from the EU was actually 172,000.

172K is the figure you should be getting hysterical about. How ludicrous is it that you count British citizens amongst immigrants?
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Why are emigrants allowed back in? You could interpret austerity as a way to force people to choose between poverty and leaving the country. Nowhere to send them too though...

Nah, would never get through their immigration policy
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Of course in the context of this debate net EU migration is the figure that matters, since that is the bit that could be changed by Brexit.
You see vetran, with such innumeracy as yours and Equalizers, is it any wonder that employers support immigration?
Why don't you do your bit against immigration and attend some evening classes in basic arithmetic so that you can take some numerate job that an immigrant is currently doing?
          Hard Brexit now!

because they are immigrants, if you count them as emigrants you have to count them as immigrants

Net migration is a valuable figure though I would suggest the EU migration figures are low considering the number of aging balding brits marrying gorgeous Eastern Europeans.

              .
              Jeez, how boneheaded are you?

Having said all of which I'm willing to concede that a net migration of, say, 200K EU workers a year is too much, long term, particularly if they are unskilled. Will they come now that they can't get benefits for 4 years?

Up until 2010 EU immigrants were balanced by British emigrants to the EU, from official government statistics.

This perception of being swamped by EU immigrants is grossly exaggerated :

                  OK simple explanation for you.

If a person resigns from a job and 2 years later returns and is rehired they are still counted as a new hire, your headcount goes up by one. They may count as a previous employee but when they left last time your headcount went down by one.

Did anyone see last night's UKIP political broadcast? They'd lined up some obese women with loads of kids who were complaining about the number of immigrants jumping ahead of them on the housing list.

"My kids ask me [SOB] 'Mum, when are we going to have a garden?' [WAIL]".

Was that really the best UKIP could do?

I think the issue is that the swamping was all round the south east. This is probably the same as half of London being Ethnic minorities. Our tramps now talk Polish, I think its their first language from their accent.
