It's called "virtue signalling" i.e I'm a superior human being because I'm a socialist.
It's a first world phenomenon.

I can't say I understand why you're not a Eurosceptic. If you think privatisation and voting Tory are keys to success for this country you're not saying too much different, but then the EU in/out thing has always been an internal Tory debate, hasn't it?

And my comment about studying IT in university wasn't anything to do with saying it's rigorous, it's to do with saying it's a waste of time.

I've had things like private physio, dental treatment and blood tests.

My private treatment ensures that the physio, dentist and lab can still provide NHS facilities because they earn enough not to go fully private.

I always felt that doctors and dentists suffered from what I would call left/right syndrome. Compared to the vast majority of the population, they are very well paid - even for purely NHS work. However, they only chat amongst themselves (ie looking to the left and right instead of up and down) and quite often feel hard done by. Yes, they have a five year course, and many years of further study, but this training is still mainly at the tax payers' expense. It's something like £600K to get to consultant level. They also have a defined career path, handsome pension and a good level of prestige that comes with the job.
