Pope Trumps Trump in Idiotic Statement Stakes

Dunno. I wasn't really thinking about the precise details of walls anyway, as it's quite obvious that the Pope was using the wall as a metaphor for the deep spiritual corruption, incomprehension of basic social morality, and wholehearted embrace of selfish greed embodied by Trump, his believers, and the foul policies springing from hatred of others that he espouses. -
From an establishment that seeks to cover up paedo priests in it's midst, and their attempts to prevent the use of contraception in Africa causing needless deaths mean they're hardly in a place to call the moral high groundOriginally posted by NickFitz View PostDunno. Even for a wazzock like TrumpSocialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.Comment

It apparently follows from their religion... what did you expect - rational science based approach?Originally posted by MicrosoftBob View Posttheir attempts to prevent the use of contraception in Africa causing needless deaths
At least they are not calling for crusades anymore and don't send the Spanish Inquisition after you ...Comment

Well in fairness, by default they are because they are mostly fast asleep. They can do less damage that way.Originally posted by AtW View PostI've noticed that The Lords have more common sense than the Parliament.

Go for it. I'll buy you a ticket if you would be so kind as to record the Swiss Guards watching you stroll around the gardens.Originally posted by NickFitz View PostA big ******* wall preventing access to the Vatican? Let's see!
More like low railings than a wall: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@41.90...7i13312!8i6656
Or there's this bit down the road, which is a bit like a wall but with big gaps in: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@41.90...7i13312!8i6656
Up the road there's definitely some walls, but only because there are buildings which they presumably didn't want to leave open to the elements. Oh, and there's a big open gate: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@41.90...7i13312!8i6656
Finally, a wall! It's round the back by the museum: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@41.90...7i13312!8i6656
So you should find it quite easy to get in. Rather like the Mexican border, whether Trump builds his ridiculous wall or not

Nice soundbite, but utter rubbish. There are only 26 of them + 1 who happens to be a Rabbi. Hardly a majority. Perhaps a very small influence. But certainly they can't vote down a bill all by themselves.Originally posted by SueEllen View Post...This people can vote down bills passed to them by the House of Commons.
What are you after?
- Complete abolition so there's no check on the government?
- Removal of anyone who holds religious office from the HoL? (Currently 26 Bishops and 1 Rabbi)
- Partial democratisation?
- Full democratisation?
Apart from option 1, the HoL will still be able to vote down government bills. But of course, the HoC can force them through anyway, so what's the problem?
Which of the defeats listed here do you think were bad things?Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Still Trump did come out with a profound retort:
******* nutter...In a press release timed to coincide with his rally, Trump suggested that the leader of the Catholic church would regret not supporting his candidacy. “If and when the Vatican is attacked by Isis, which as everyone knows is Isis’s ultimate trophy,” Trump said, “the pope can have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president because this would not have happened.“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

Didn't help I quoted the wrong person and couldn't be bothered to correct it.
All those complaining about religion in politics don't need to look very far."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

I hope he starts referring to himself in the third person in debates and speeches, that would be awesome.Originally posted by darmstadt View PostStill Trump did come out with a profound retort:
